The city of El Alto isn’t just distinguished by its impressive altitude of over 13,000 feet above sea level or its self-governing status. The Bolivian city also sets itself apart with the distinctive architecture of Freddy Mamani Silvestre. The architect, who goes by Freddy Mamani professionally, got his start as a bricklayer and studied civil engineering in college. He completed his first building in this style in 2005 and has since created dozens more designs that incorporate circular windows, sharply angled rooflines and vibrant pink, green, and orange facades.

This type of vase is used to hold wine worked on it by myself The story behind this is the cracks in the top of the vase with the eyes in the middle is a person going through depression. struggling to stay afloat. moving down the vase to the wavy swirls are the harmony that you reach once you pull yourself out of the depression. the waves represent harmony and unity between thoughts and actions. Sgraffito, (Italian: “scratched”), in the visual arts, a technique used in painting, pottery, and glass, which consists of putting down a preliminary surface, covering it with another, and then scratching the superficial layer in such a way that the pattern or shape that emerges is of the lower color. |
